World info: Danforth's world is much like ours, with one exception: Badgernet is already an established, if minor compared to the giants, social media presence. Rumors persist that it genuinely does have multiversal connection, but come on, it's all RP, right? ... right?
History: Born 1997, Michael Danforth grew up in the era of the War on Terror. As the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan stretched into decades, he became more and more jaded, joining many of his classmates who could see that much of what was being promised him was blatant falsehood.

They have one older sister and one older brother, each separated by about three years. Their brother is the eldest, and estranged himself from the family when he turned 22. Michael was 15 at the time, and they were never particularly privy to their brother's logic in that regard. Despite this, said elder brother trusted Michael enough to leave one line open, specifically to them. Neither one has used it in three years.

His elder sister followed suit as soon as she left college, at about the same time he was about to enter college. Failed application deadlines meant community college, and to make matters worse, his mother decided she had had rather enough of his father, and took him with her.

Quickly cobbling together a welding certification and trying to hold down a retail job at the same time, he eventually managed to start getting construction work in 2019...

About four months before the pandemic hit.

Thankfully, construction work was "essential", so he and his mother didn't have to worry about where the money was coming from, and welding is a lucrative enough trade. He even got into the Badgernet beta, something he considered a stroke of luck, as his online contacts had otherwise been drying up.

He even happened across his sister once, not long before the pandemic hit. She was bisexual, and in a relationship with a girl, and this was exactly why she'd left the family, mostly out of fear of retribution from their father. For a moment... For a moment he could see how afraid she was, and told her he would say nothing, but at the time he couldn't help thinking how cute they were together.

Even getting vaccinated, it's been building up for a long time that he just... can't get into the construction worker mindset, at least socially. He can come in, do his work, and leave, but...

Something always feels wrong. And it's starting to get to him.
Canon point:
Age: 24

Personality: Reserved nearly to the crippling point, the pandemic has done Danforth no favors, although steady work and online presence have helped him maintain something of a social life. Eminently distractible, drifting from topic to topic, coming back with odd connections, telling dad jokes, these are all things Danforth does, and does well.

Danforth is... Vaguely unsettled with their life, and largely goes through the motions. They don't know why this is, just that it is. It's not like anything went particularly wrong. They just feel... Trapped.
AU changes: None.

Capabilities: Danforth has a construction-rating welding certificate from the California Board and can both run and program CNC machines. They are currently working on a bachelors' degree so that he can move up from construction welding to weld inspection and instruction.

Notes: I have one explicit goal with this character: I want to see exactly how much Michael here can change given access to the multiverse and a list of goals they want to achieve.

Michael is very closet trans; they're supporting their mother in a two-bedroom apartment they share. It's very reasonable rent for the area they live in. They're estranged from their father, a trial separation that's going on three years, now.

-- it is my firm goal that Michael gets to be fate's chew toy. That said--

• Physical Affection: Generally open to hugs and handshakes, finds surprise touch disconcerting. Ask before more intimate affection.
• Physical Violence: You can-- Michael is pretty squishy by Badgernet standards, wouldn't be hard-- but they'll definitely resent you for it.
• Relationships: They're bisexual but also closeted and not very up on their own body. Friendships, romances, and loves encouraged. 
• Psychic and Psionic information: Danforth's world either lacks, or lacks knowledge of, psionics or ESP of any sort at the start of play. As such they will likely ping as "not psionically active" unless and until play determines otherwise.
• Magic and Magic Information: Danforth's world either lacks, or lacks knowledge of, magic or spiritual force of any literal kind at the start of play. As such they will likely ping as "not magically active" unless and until play determines otherwise. 
• Medical Information: Danforth takes extreme steps to protect their lungs, a result of childhood asthma. They are constantly on their feet all day on the job and walk around a large campus with lots of steps when they are not.
• Offensive Subjects/Triggers: transphobia/homophobia (internalized and not), neglect, atheist and pretty sick of Christian hegemony.

• Other warnings: Internalized transphobia, openly identifying as socialist/ancom/anti-fascist, anxiety, getting in way over your head, and possibly gay panic.
